And our response to that will, presumably, tend towards harsher and harsher "solutions".truepeershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16401984575637492845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25624602.post-61394074224017092992011-03-05T12:15:22.517-08:002011-03-05T12:15:22.517-08:00Colonel,
Whatever the possibilities, in reality, ...Colonel,

Whatever the possibilities, in reality, we have to ask where does white guilt come from. If it comes, as I think it does, from the memory of World War II, then one might support the claim that it is infused with a memory of, and a response to, the new revelation of man's means and, at times, willingness to commit industrial-scale slaughter. It has been claimed, and I see no other evidence, that the first emergence of white guilt in art is the film "Hiroshima mon amour".truepeershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16401984575637492845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25624602.post-88642934921718041352011-03-04T21:06:22.624-08:002011-03-04T21:06:22.624-08:00I don't think genocide is even a remote possib...I don't think genocide is even a remote possibility in the process of isolating Muslims in their own lands or expelling them from ours. Even the mildest of actions will suffice to achieve either of these goals -- provided there is firmness on our part. Lord knows what it is that dissolves any firmness we might exhibit.

The White Guilt hypothesis is unpersuasive to me. Masses of Westerners don't go to sleep at night thinking about the excesses of colonialism any more than they ponder the slaughter of WWI or WWII.

Something else is at work. Complacency, smugness, hedonism, multiculturalism, fixation on equality, the holiest of holies.Col. B. Bunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09590364016079745156noreply@blogger.com
