Well - it's a brave move on BB's part. I'm not quite sure, though - what do they hope to accomplish with this ad? They seem likely to receive a substantial back-lash ( could even see an HRC complaint ), but what benefit are they receiving in turn?

Or perhaps it's not about benefit to begin with. Perhaps it simply has to do with sending a message. If so, then I think they certainly accomplished that goal...

I like it, I heard about this listening to CFRB this morning, Tarek Fatah described it as an overuse of Nazi Imagery, but a spokesgirl for Islamistwatch stated she liked it.

Walker, yes they will face a backlash from the left/Muslims and so i hope they are ready to back up the imagery with some thoughtful arguments. If they hope to accomplish a good discussion, that's enough for me.

What, ideally, Jews need to do is show those who hate "the jew", and those who sympathize with third world resentment, what it is really about "the jew", and symbolically equivalent aspects of modernity, that causes the resentment of those yet left out of the modern covenant. Just as you don't have to be a white German to be a "Nazi", you don't have to be Jewish to be "the Jew"; today, America, the Great Satan, plays a role in Islamist propaganda that is essentially that of the Little Satan, or Jew, writ large. In other words, the Jewish problem is ultimately a human problem that will continue to exist if the antisemites succeed in wiping Jews from the face of the earth. There will always be someone who gets tagged as the new "Jew".

If their covenant means anything, is the duty of Jews to lead discussion on such questions and to provoke such discussions if they can...

I ended up living for some years in Isrel just by chance. I came to like it so much that people said to me, "If you like these people so much, why don't you convert to Judaism?" I responded that I'm a terrible Protestant, so why bother converting only to be a terrible Jew?"

But when you put it so, Peers, I do feel Jewish all over. I like it.
