Remembering Memorial Day

Memorial Day is not a Canadian holiday, but maybe it should be, as we owe so much of our nation's ongoing glory to the shield that the US Armed Forces have held with great courage and sacrifice for so long. We as a nation do not do enough to acknowledge the degree to which our freedom to posture as "peacekeepers" is due to the brave men and women of the United States.
Well this is one Canadian citizen who is immensely grateful to his southern neighbors, for all they do to safeguard our liberty. I remember my obligations to you, and thank you for your service on our behalf.

These photos are of a memorial to Canadian troops, located at the Waterfront station, downtown. It speaks of a time when such memories and gratitude were more common, and Canadians shared a greater awareness of the sacrifices made in order for our nation to continue.
