Vancouver HAMAS rally

Here's the introduction to a piece from J. Narvey, one of those in attendance protesting against the HAMAS-sponsored hate rally today in Vancouver, Canada.

Another Protest Against the Fascists

Once more, into the breach. Some friends and I made our way to the pro-Hamas protest outside the Vancouver Art Gallery today. We showed our Canadian and Israeli flags and distributed some literature with a point-by-point comparison of Hamas and a more historic fascist movement. Some highlights:

1. The middle-aged woman protesting with the fascist supporters who came over and shouted at our small contingent, saying:

"If I were in Gaza, I would be a suicide bomber. We are all Hamas. Every one of us would do that. We are all Hamas."

It was good. We were few, but we were a happy few. It feels just right to stand in the snow and fight for democracy and Human decency, even at the risk of pneumonia and facing the possibility of the wrath of an enraged jihadi mob. Really good.

Modernist Foiled by the Nubians of Plutonia.

Some people complain about Modernity, claiming that life was better in the Middle Ages, even better than that when people lived as hunter-gatherers. Those who hate Modernity are those I refer to as "Povertarians," some kind of polluted religious fanatics. There are great things available in our beautiful Modernity, not the least being anti-biotics for bronchitis. As good, if not better, the daily crossword in the paper. Yes, the crossword puzzle is fun, even when I get stumped by such commonalities as the composer of The Nubians of Plutonia.

I'm going to lie me down for the night and look forward to many crossword puzzles to come. It is a wonderful Modern world indeed. Worth fighting for.

Sun Ra? Now I know.

Dad, can I borrow the keys to the....

One does occasionally hear tales of woe, such as how junior wrecked the car on Saturday night taking his steady girlfriend to the soda-shop for a malted. Here's one of those tales, writ a bit large.

THE TALE OF THE ARAB FLIGHT CREW

Written by To The Point News

The brand spanking new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sat in its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine runups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi. The date was November 15, 2007.

The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is.

The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc.) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm.

This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air.

The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on.

Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $80 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it.

The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out.

Thank to Gates of Vienna.

Hey, it could have happened to anyone. And what's $80 million to dad anyway? I laugh when I think of the times I crashed the family jet airbus. You too, huh? Ah, kids. What can you do?

Mickey Mouse Must Die

In posts below-- heart-rending stories of murdered civilians in India; reasoned and sensitive responses to unhinged violence and hatred; highly analytical thoughts on the gnostic Grand Narrative vision of teleology, [my paraphrase, of course]; and yet even more painful explorations of inhumanness-- in those posts below we see intelligent minds at work, sensitive people thinking, careful critics writing. Then there is this from our Muslim opposition:

Islamic scholar: Mickey Mouse must die

images3333.jpg

"According to Islamic law, the mouse is a repulsive, corrupting creature," al-Munajid said, adding that he was concerned that popular culture had given mice an undeserved positive image.

"How do you think children view mice today – after Tom and Jerry?" he asked.

"Even creatures that are repulsive by nature, by logic, and according to Islamic law have become wonderful and are loved by children. Even mice. Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to Islamic law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases."

Islam is a Grand Narrative. Marxism and post-modernism are Grand Narratives. So too is The Constitution of the United States of America.

When two or more Grand Narratives share the same stage, one must give way to the other in a coherent universe. How does that come about? That is a question we debate weekly. It's so-far unresolved among us.

Is Paris Burning?

Motoring in France? What a romance in store for you, ami. It's sooo European. As is this:

http://lesalonbeige.blogs.com/my_weblog/2008/08/violences-urbai.html
That's translatable from French into English as something like a whole whack of cars burnt, like 102 per day par jour.

Subtle. I can't believe my eyes. How does one hide 102 burning cars every night? And mobs attacking the police? Look, it doesn't matter if they do it par jour or not, once is enough and too much. If the police cannot or will not protect themselves, what are they doing for the citizens par jour? Nada.

Europe isn't finished: If Osama Barka becomes president, Europe is just beginning. They'll come to Paris, Texas, too.

The Hat Makes the Man

A man's hat can tell you so much at a glance that you often needn't even ask.

Sometimes there is the hat and also another obvious clue to the man's character.

There is a hat.

There is a man's hat.

And there is a real man's hat.

When we witness that happy day when men across Europe don real men's hats, then we will see a new age of peace and prosperity and the Kingdom come. I look forward to the day when every man wears a good hat. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one. But please wear a good hat. It might seem a small thing but a hat is important to the future of the free world. The hat is as important as what's under it. I prefer the Kossuth hat. Any cowboy hat will do, of course, but one must wear a real man's hat if we are to save what we can of the world of the free. It says what one is. No need for words, no glorious speeches, just the hat.

Dear reader, I can almost hear you say, "Dag, are you being weird?"

Well, no. A hat is such an obvious sign of what a man is that one can hardly argue it. We in the West seldom wear hats, and it shows in our lack of real mission in life. A hat says. And a lack of hats also says. Real men wear hats for real men. When it becomes a sign of our times and our being that we have Kossuth hats, then we will know we are ascendant. It's not weird, it's just out of the blue. In time, I can for now only hope, a hat will be an obvious sign of ones stand, of our stand, as hats are for others today.
