Covenant Zone Welcomes Israeli athletes to Vancouver

I've just seen the news that last week Israeli flags were defaced in Vancouver:
January 31, 2010

(JTA) -- Two Israeli flags that were part of an Olympic display in Vancouver were removed after being defaced.

The Israeli flags were covered in paint with the words "Free Palestine" written on them, the Vancouver Sun reported Sunday. They were removed last month.

The display on the streets of the city features 450 international flags from 80 countries.

Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, which begin Feb. 12. Israel is sending three athletes.
I think such cowardly forms of "political" protest, which amount to an attack on an entire nation and all its people and athletes regardless of their politics - as if they have no right to exist - requires a response. So I say to fellow Vancouverites, if you can find an Israeli flag to wear, do so for the next few weeks. Here's what I have; say hi if you see me on the streets:

The picture of the baseball cap you posted would actually make a great burka head-covering! One flag over each female eye, the rest of her oppressed face and body covered by cloth...

Thanks Vijay, I will check out your blog soon.

bulletproof, some of the women wearing burkas are complicit in the evil ideology, desiring to enforce an extreme sense of the alien on us, but a lot of them are under the control of men. They really are oppressed.

That settles it: I'm wearing my Israelian cap daily till this Olympic festivity is over. And yes, I will say hi to you each time I see you.

Hi Covenant Zone

Thanks for the interest shown on my blog.

My best friendship quote
"True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost.
Everyone is a friend, until they prove otherwise"

Also thanks for adding my blog in your wonderful blog.

I think my comment above was misunderstood - should have used the sarcasm tag. :)

I was indeed making a facetious joke about the oppression of brainwashed wife slaves in Canada.

The saddest thing I've seen in the past year was a woman in a burka pushing a baby carriage along the Seawall in Vancouver.

I reject that as the future of Canada.

You don't have to be bulletproof to have coffee with us at the library, mate, where we meet once a week for discussion and joke-swapping and chat about books and ideas and so on. some people seemed to think it's dangerous to be known to be openly anti-jihad fascism, and they've stayed away for... I think Charles mentioned that it's four years last week that we've been meeting. Come and join us for an evening next week.

Regards, Dag.

bulletproof,

I second Dag. We usually meet Thursday nights at the library, in front of Blenz coffee, 7-9. Not sure what it'll be like the next few weeks though.
