Remember

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I was at the memorial service today in Vancouver, Canada. I met a large group of Israelis, people who came to pay their respects to soldiers of all nations who lived and died in defence of freedom and Human decency. Israelis today are on the front lines again, and I feel unhappy that I'm not there with them.

When I met my comrades here our first words were "Shalom."

Glad you could make it, Dag. I was hoping you could get to see this other side of Canada.
Where were you? We looked and looked for you.

I was near a television station truck toward the water. It was almost funny that i got upset wityh the crew there who were yakking and blabing like idiots, I recalling our conversation about tv people moving on from one story to the next without a thought, and they doing exactly such.

I was surprised by the number of people who attended the service here in Vancouver. Even the greatest booster of this city will have to admit the climate here is unpleasant for outdoor activities in Nov., but there were thousands of people, from my estimate, who cared not and braved the gloom to come out to pay their respects to those who served and those who serve today.

I've spent most of my life thinking I was an outsider with noxious opinions, and that might well be true in many instances, but I find that I have found fellows who are decent and reasonable and fair, and they are people who attend services such as the one we went to yesterday. I've lived too long in jungles and swamps, and I didn't know that so many people in the world outside were sane. I'm feeling hopeful that the majority of Westerners are really the normal and decent people I always thought they were. I think I can foresee in my future a smile.

Looking forward to meting again on Thursday to carry on our struggle for a general redemption of the nation. I think people want something good again and that they will soon enough demand of themselves the effort it requires to move from this swamp of dhimmitude to a higher ground. See you all soon.
